The body of a missing youth was found wrapped in a cornfield in Shibpur.
Police have recovered the body of a young man (35), who had been missing for two days in Shibpur, Narsingdi. The body was recovered from a cornfield in Uttar Sadharchar village of Sadharchar union of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased youth has been identified as Md. Saiful Islam. His home is in Aral Bazar area of Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. Saiful lived in his in-laws’ house in Hatirdia village of Monohardi, Narsingdi. It is believed that Saiful may have been killed sometime on Tuesday night. Later, the killers left his body in a sack in the cornfield and fled.
Police and local people said that around 11 am today, some people saw a sacked body lying in the cornfield of Mitu Bhuiyan of Uttar Sadharchar village. They informed the local UP member Md. Sarwar, who informed the Shibpur police station. On receiving the information, the police recovered the sacked body from the spot. Later, after preparing the post-mortem report, the body was sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital. Police say that a photocopy of the National Identity Card (NID card) was found in the wallet of the deceased youth. His name and identity were identified through the NID. Later, when his family was contacted, it was informed that Saiful went missing from the Hatirdia area of Monohardi Police Station two days ago. Police also said that many people in the area used to receive money from the deceased Saiful. There have been incidents of threatening him at various times to get the money back. The police are investigating whether there is any link between those threats and the murder.
Shibpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Afzal Hossain said that the deceased youth has injury marks on various parts of his body. The body has been sent to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. A murder case is under process in this incident.
